Coach Bio

 
STEVIE CAMPBELL
Stevie has been in the professional game for over 30 years, experiencing a playing career with Dundee FC, Coleraine FC, Livingston FC and Brechin City FC, where he is now a first time coach, contributing to them recently gaining promotion to the Scottish Championship against all odds. Throughout his career he earned four U21 international honours and worked under many great managers and coaches. Whilst going part time in his playing career he began his coaching career, starting at Dundee FC and continuing to this day via Inverness Caley Thistle and DUFC. He has helped to develop many players including Paul Dixon, Scott Robertson, Kev McDonald, Ryan Dow, Johnny Russell, Scott Allan, Keith Watson, John & Harry Soutter, Ryan Gauld and current Scotland international, Stuart Armstrong, amongst others. It is helping develop young talent that still remains Stevie’s passion and the new academy and community classes at Showcase the Street are the perfect place and environment for that to happen.

ROBBIE RAESIDE

Throughout Robbie’s playing career he was Scottish school boy and youth international, and also made 1 under 21 squad. He played 8 years at Raith Rovers where they won what’s now the championship twice and part of the squad won Coca Cola cup v Celtic. He also played in the Uefa cup. Robbie had 4 seasons at Dundee where they won another championship. Robbie played with Alloa, Arbroath and Peterhead, winning promotions at his times here and going on to play a champions league qualifier for Shelbourne.
Robbie’s coaching career has consisted of 4 years as the assistant manager of Arbroath with promotion, 2 yrs head of youth/under 18s coach at Raith Rovers. Robbie has also coached at the USA Olympic development program in Phoenix Arizona. He has held his Youth and A license for about 12 years, and been coaching Futsal Showcase TheStreet for 3 years. Robbie has also undertaken coaching at Monifieth Athletic soccer school and 2006s for 4 years. We are excited to have him as part of the SCFA team and know the children will gain form his vast playing and coaching career.

 

Garry Balfour

Garry is a well known and respected coach in the area who has been coaching for 13 years and recently achieved his SFA Advanced Children’s License which is the highest qualification on the children’s pathway. Starting as a youth player at Dundee United then onto Arbroath where he made his debut at Hampden Park, Garry also went on to play in the Junior game for ten years. Garry started coaching at Forfar Boys club, and includes coaching Forfar Athletic under 17s in his experience before he started to get involved with Dundee FCs pro youth set up, where two of his sons also now play. Garry currently coaches the under 12s at Dundee FC and this has given him a great insight into the skills and abilities needed for young players to develop to the highest levels in the game. Garry will be joined in Forfar by assistant coach Matty Reynolds who has supported programmes locally through both the SFA and Angus Leisure.

David Geekie

Many of you will know David, Stevie ‘s right hand man, but we wanted to give him a little shout out . David, 22 has worked with Showcase for sometime before starting at the academy. He’s recently gained an Honors degree in Sports coaching and development. He worked with Dundee FC before joining SCFA. David has played with Dundee FC and Arbroath FC as a youth player and has experience playing junior football over the last few years. He is definitely an asset to the SCFA team and we know the kids love his classes.

Joe Grimes

Joe is the most recent addition to our SCFA team and those attending Thursday classes will all know him and many of you will get to meet him this week. Previously he worked as an active sports coach for Angus council, coaching football, badminton and tennis. He was involved in the setting up and running of before and after school clubs at Grange and Seaview primary schools and Monifieth High school, including running the school football teams. Joe has also worked at David Lloyds as an active sports leader for just under a year helping run there events for athletics and indoor sports as well as helping organise, coach and referee Angus Schools football cup. Joe is an enthusiastic and dedicated coach here at the academy and we know you will all enjoy his contribution to coaching our classes.
